1.    Launching the representative office in Hue City

On November 12th, 2015 Action to the Community Development Center (ACDC) has launched the representative office in Thua Thien Hue Province which is located in Central of Vietnam. The office will assist in initiating support activities for PWDs in this area.

In 2016, ACDC Center will open the southern representative office in Binh Phuoc Province.

2.    Launching and awarding the photography contest:  “The story of Feet”

This photography contest was run by ACDC Center and from September 2015 to November 2015.  During two months, we have received over 400 entries from contestants of different ages and professions from all over the country. The Facebook page of the contest was also constantly received interests from over 1000 members. This was the first time that the community used their personal devices (smartphones, cameras) to capture people with disabilities using accessibility equipments. At the award ceremony, the judges have awarded 10prizes for excellent works voted by both the judges and the audiences, in which the prizes value accounted for up to 20 million VND.

3.    Establishing 04 Commune Disabled People’ Organizations in Dien Ban and Dai Loc, Quang Nam Province

Within 5 months (from April to September 2015), ACDC Center  not only has improved capacity but also assisted technology for the foundation of 04 Commune Disabled People’ Organizations in Dien Ban and Dai Loc, Quang Nam Province, including: Dien An, Dien Ngoc (Dien Ban), Dai Hong, Dai Lanh (Dai Loc).

4.    Maintaining free legal counseling line for PWDs

Launching from 2012, the Law Departure of ACDC Center has solved thousands of questions,legal situations in the country. This is an only reputable and free line of legal counseling for PWDs in Viet Nam.

5.    Maintaining the program: “Cactus Blooming” and expanding to Thai Binh Province and Ha Noi City areas

“Cactus Blooming” program has implemented since 2002 which was the first program for disabled women of ACDC Center. By 2015, there was the additional participation of Tien Hai District, Thai Binh Province and Ha Noi deaf women’s clubs in the area of project. In 2016, the ACDC Center will continue to expand project areas to other provinces.

6. Developing training materials for improving capacity of  PWDs Associations in Viet Namimages/IMG_9291.jpg

The toolkit includes the following modules:

Module 1: United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Module 2: Law on PWDs and related policies.

Module 3: Inspecting and monitoring the implementation of the CRPD (support for report?).

Module 4: Policy Advocacy

Module 5: Communication

Module 6: Developing Disabled People’ Organizations.

The toolkit will be launched in the beginning of  2016.

7. Implementing the issue replacing the Government Circular number 11/2009/TT-BYT being effective since August 14th, 2009 which promulgated a category of technical rehabilitation services and the average days for certain diseases /group of disease treatments paid by the Healthcare Insurance Fund. A new feature of the Circular is bringing orthotics, wheelchair… into the category paid by the Healthcare Insurance Fund.

8. Connecting powerfully with international organizations, governmental organizations, local governments, social organizations…for the common goal: For a society without barriers for Viet Nam PWDs. In 2015, ACDC Center is considered as one of the nine organizations which has best practices of Transparency and Accountability.
