On October 3, 2025, Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC), in coordination with the Quang Tri Provincial Organization of Persons with Disabilities, Agent Orange Victims, Sponsoring Persons with Disabilities and Protecting Children's Rights, organized the official handover and acceptance testing of the solar energy system at Campus 1 and Campus 2 of Quang Tri School for Children with Disabilities.
At the session, representatives from the ACDC; the Quang Tri Provincial Association of Persons with Disabilities, Agent Orange Victims, Sponsoring Persons with Disabilities and Protecting Children's Rights; the beneficiary unit; the construction and installation contractor; and the consultant supervisor examined, test-ran the system, and agreed to technical acceptance in accordance with the design standards. The representative of Quang Tri School for Children with Disabilities officially received the system and committed to effectively managing, operating, maintaining, and utilizing it after the handover.
The solar power system installed at one of the school’s facilities contributes to reducing operational costs and promoting sustainable environmental protection
The initial results are very impressive: after only 15 days of use, the electricity bill at Campus 1 of the school dropped from approximately 2.5 million VND to 500,000 VND, equivalent to an 80% reduction. This efficiency shows that the application of renewable energy not only helps save operational costs but also contributes to environmental protection and enhances the sustainability of the school's education, care, and rehabilitation work.
Ms. Le Thi Thuy Hoa, Principal of Quang Tri School for Children with Disabilities, shared: “The installation of the solar power system helps the school significantly reduce electricity costs, thereby freeing up resources to invest in professional activities such as care, teaching, and rehabilitation for our students."

Following the acceptance and handover, ACDC will continue to coordinate with the Quang Tri Provincial Association of Persons with Disabilities, Agent Orange Victims, Sponsoring Persons with Disabilities and Protecting Children's Rights and the installation contractor to provide technical support and monitor the system's operation during the warranty period. Concurrently, they will guide the school to independently manage and operate the system, ensuring the efficiency and long-term sustainability of the project.
The system is part of the project namely “Enhancing livelihood and well-being of persons with disabilities in Quang Tri, Vietnam”, sponsored by Green Cross Switzerland (GCCH) through ACDC, and approved by the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee under Decision No. 1910/QĐ-UBND dated June 13, 2025. The completion and handover of the solar energy system to the Quang Tri School for Children with Disabilities marks a crucial step forward in the efforts to apply clean energy, move towards sustainable development, and enhance the social inclusion of persons with disabilities in the locality.
