GUIDELINES 

The Art contest “Our voices”

I/ Contest information

The Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC) is an institution for and of persons with disabilities that support persons with disabilities including both children with disabilities and vulnerable groups in society. ACDC is one of many pioneer institutions in seeking solutions to improve the quality of life, heading towards equality, independent living capability, community inclusion and the capability to contribute more proficiently to the society of persons with disabilities.

The project “Increased accountability to eliminate violence and discrimination against children with disabilities” (AVAC) is conducted by the ACDC with the sponsorship of the Hong Kong Save the Children Organization and under the management of the Save the Children Organization in Vietnam within 2022 – 2024 in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and other relevant provinces. Together with the State and relevant stakeholders at all level, the overall objective of the project is to enact the right of children effectivel and ensure they are fully implemented as committed.

Following the media events that were carried out in 2022 and in response to the Month of Action for Children in 2023 from June 1st to June 30th, 2023 with the theme “Joining hands to care for, educate and protect children ”, ACDC and Save the Children Organization (hereinafter referred to as the Organizing Committee) had organized the Art contest “Our voices”.

II. Objectives

- Raise awareness and sense of responsibility of families, schools and communities in addressing children's issues and preventing and minimizing risks of child abuse.

- Communicate, raise the awareness, knowledge about child protection for children, teachers, parents/caregivers through creative and rich art forms.

- Surveying children's opinions on child protection issues.

- Excellent works are expected to be compiled into picture books.

III. Target participants:

The contest is open to all children between the ages of 6 – 17 years old who are passionate about painting, creative drawing media products such as posters, comics... all over Vietnam. The participants are divided into two specific groups as follows:

- Preschool Category: For children aged 6 to 10 (students from grade 1 to grade 5 or equivalent).

- Green Bamboo Category: For children aged 11 to 17(students from grade 6 to 12 or equivalent).

Children participating in the contest must have the consent of their legal guardian, which is shown by signing their name on the work submission form.

IV. Content, topic theme:  

Topic theme: Our children’s voice – Children express their thoughts on the children’s right to protection.

Some suggestions for the content:

- Depict some physcial, mental abuse actions that children may face in family, school and on the cyber environment.

- Measures to prevent physical, mental violence and discrimination against children.

- Pictures, positive stories about family, school, safe cyber environment and non-violence against children.

- Messages to call upon the community to protect children, especially children with disabilities, girls, children with difficult circumstances, LGBT children so that they can live in a safe and equal environment.

V. Form of expression:

Artwork includes: hand-drawn paintings, painting titles, and short messages (less than 200 words).

Hand-drawn paintings on A3 paper. Paintings can be posters, comic strips, flyers, etc., without limiting drawing materials such as colored pencils, crayons, powder colors, watercolors, etc.

Contest language: Vietnamese.

VI. Contest important date and deadlines:

Launching period: June 24 - August 30, 2023

Submission deadline: August 31, 2023

Jury evaluation round: September 11-15, 2023

Online exhibition and voting round: September 11-18, 2023

Announcement and award ceremony time: September 2023

VII. Registration:

The participants can submit the work directly in person or via postal service following these steps:

  • Step 1: The participants draw artworks for the topic “Our voices”. After drawing, creators take the photo and save the photo of the work
  • Step 2: Download the regitration form here and fill in the information, which can be handwritten or typed.
  • Step 3: Print the registration form and send it with the artwork to media events promoting the contest or send it to the ACDC office with the following information:

VII. Regulations on submitting artwork:

  • Participated work’s copyright belongs to the original creator, doesn’t copied, partly or entirely changed based on another work. The creator is solely responsible for all copyright of their artwork.
  • The work must not have been published, publicly exhibited, or participated in or won any previous competitions.
  • The submitted work must be original. Works that are not attached to the registration form (with the sign of guardians) are not considered valid.
  • The organizing committee will not accept submissions that are submitted beyond the deadline date. Submissions sent by post will be considered received according to the postmark.
  • The number of submitted works and the form of product are not limited, but each work must be registered seperately on each form.
  • The organizing committee is commited not to use the submitted works for illegal purpose. The organizing committee has the right to use all works (with the citation of author’s information, the project name and the implemented organization) for non-profit communication purposes, with no time limit and without the need of author’s consent in each case
  • The organizing committee is not responsible for copyright disputes or any related or arising rights for the submitted works. In all cases, the decision of the organizing committee and the jury is the final

Quang Tri: Advanced training on psychological support for persons with disabilities and their families

From August 14 - 16, 2025, in Quang Tri Province, Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC), in collaboration with the Quang Tri Provincial Department of Health, organized an advanced training on psychological support for persons with disabilities and their family members. This activity followed the basic training held in July 2025 and is part of the project “Independent living and social inclusion for persons with disabilities in Quang Tri, Vietnam”, funded by Green Cross Switzerland (GCCH).

Hue City: Survey on livelihood support needs for families with persons with disabilities

Following activities in Da Nang City and Quang Tri Province, the Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC) coordinated with the Hue City Department of Health and the People’s Committees of Phu Bai, Phu Ho, Phong Dinh, and Thanh Thuy wards/communes to carry out home visits and a survey on livelihood support needs for 48 families with persons with disabilities in Hue City from August 13–14, 2025.
