“I have been looking forward to a training course like this for a long time, and when I was invited by the commune official, I agreed to attend immediately. I hope this training course is widely disseminated so that women with disabilities have knowledge about gender-based violence and know how to prevent and protect themselves." That is the sharing of Ms. C.T.L, Tra Duong commune, Bac Tra My district during the training course “Prevention of gender-based violence for persons with disabilities and their families”  in Quang Nam on June 8 & 10, 2022.

Participants listen attentively under the guidance of the main trainer to raise awareness and strengthen knowledge about Gender-based violence for persons with disabilities

Attending the training course were representatives of the Association of Persons with Disabilities of Quang Nam province, Mr. Le Viet Phuc, Head of Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Hoi An City; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung,  Head of Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs of Bac Tra My district and representatives of departments in 2 localities.

Participants share information through their real stories during the TOT

The training course attracted more than 60 participants who are women with disabilities and their families in Hoi An city and Bac Tra My district. The highlight of this activity is that persons with disabilities are main trainers. These are all people who have been trained in the first phase of the Training of Trainers on “Gender-based violence for persons with disabilities”. With enthusiasm, creativity and knowledge about persons with disabilities, the trainers prepared content and teaching methods that mobilize the participation of participants. That's why the atmosphere in the course is very lively. Through the interaction between the trainer and the participants, persons with disabilities have become more confident and share about the prevention of gender-based violence for themselves and their families.

The activity is within the framework of the project “Strengthening opportunities and empowering perons with disabilities - II” in Quang Nam, under the sponsorship of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
