Activity
April 18 is recognized in the Law on Persons with Disabilities 2010 as Vietnam’s national Disability Day. This is a national day for persons with disabilities, encouraging full and equal participation of persons with disabilities in all areas of social life; at the same time, call for support and promote the rights of persons with disabilities throughout society. A variety of informative activities will be held during this great day.
This year, the Vietnam Association for Persons with Disabilities (VFD) announced the theme on April 18 is “Safety – Equality”. The meaning of safety is safety during the Covid–19 pandemic; equality is equality in the election of National Assembly members and People's Council members at all levels.
In response to Vietnam Disability Day 2021, ACDC has hosted, organized, and sponsored a number of activities and events to accompany organizations of and for persons with disabilities with the theme "Safety – Equality".
In Quang Hoa district, Cao Bang province and Na Ai district, Bac Kan province, on April 17th and 18th, 2021, ACDC, in collaboration with Child Fund Vietnam, organized two media events on The Day of Persons with disabilities in Vietnam 18/4 with the theme "Parents try, well-behaved children every day". The activity attracted the participation of more than 350 people including district leaders, representatives of district departments; project implementation team; officials in charge of child protection, socio-cultural officials of project communes; managers and teachers of preschools and primary schools in the project communes; students with disabilities and close friends of students with disabilities; groups of parents of children with disabilities; self-help groups and their relatives.
In Song Cong city, Thai Nguyen province, on April 15, 2021, ACDC sponsored the Song Cong Association of Persons with disabilities to organize a Sharing Meeting - Disability Policy with the theme "Safety – Equality" on the 18th day of Vietnam Disability Day. The activity attracted the participation of nearly 180 delegates to represent the People's Committee, departments, departments of communes and wards; businesses in Song Cong city and all members of The Association of Persons with disabilities of Song Cong City.
In Hanoi, ACDC has sponsored: Vietnam Association of Deaf Parents organized the Vietnam Disability Day Celebration Program "Audio Journey 2021 – The 1st Hearing Aid Donation Ceremony" on April 18, 2021; Son Tay Association for Persons with Disabilities held a seminar on "Access to elections for persons with disabilities" on April 17, 2021 and the Event celebrating Vietnam Disability Day 18/4 & Propagating the election of National Assembly members and People's Council members at all levels for the term 2021 - 2026 of the Association of Persons with disabilities of Ba Do District on April 15, 2021.
In Ninh Binh, on April 13, 2021, ACDC also sponsored the Ninh Binh Association of Persons with disabilities to organize a seminar program "Beyond yourself" to attract the large participation of persons with disabilities in the locality.
In Nam Dinh, the Celebration of Vietnam Disability Day (18/04/1998 - 18/04/2021) was also organized by the Nam Dinh Association of Persons with disabilities on April 18, 2021 in Nam Dinh city with the sponsorship of ACDC.
In Da Nang, ACDC sponsored the Da Nang Association of Persons with Disabilities to organize a propaganda session "Rights and obligations of persons with disabilities in the election of National Assembly members and People's Councils at all levels" to attract the participation of 48 delegates representing the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, The Committee for People's Committee, Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Association of Patrons and Orphans, Da Nang City Social Work Center; 12 typical member units - persons with disabilities of the Association and volunteers.
In Quang Ngai, on April 16, 2021, under the sponsorship of ACDC, the seminar "Safety - Equality for persons with disabilities in the field of public health and election of People's Councils at all levels for persons with disabilities" was also successfully organized by the Quang Ngai Association of Persons with disabilities.
In Quang Tri, from April 15th to 16th, 2021, ACDC cooperated with the Association of Persons with disabilities, Orange Victims, Disability Protection and Child Rights Protection in Quang Tri Province to organize 2 media sessions to celebrate Vietnam Disability Day on the rights of persons with disabilities in response to the theme "Safety – Equality". The program attracted the participation of 96 persons with disabilities, family members of persons with disabilities and officials of the Association of Persons with Disabilities in communes and districts of Quang Tri.
In Can Tho, a dialogue with members on the 23rd anniversary of Vietnam Disability Day (18/04/1998 - 18/04/2021) was organized by the Can Tho Association of Persons with disabilities on April 16, 2021, attracting the participation of 150 members. ACDC is one of the applications for funding this workshop.
In Soc Trang, ACDC also accompanied and sponsored the Soc Trang Blind Association to organize the 1st Soc Trang Blind Country Race in Bach DangPark Square on April 18, 2021. The event attracted more than 100 people, including 30 athletes who have visual impairments.
