In response to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (3/12) and the passing of 10 years since the United Nations adopted the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), ACDC has organized a series of activities across three regions of Vietnam.

In Hanoi, ACDC organized a program to provide free reproductive health care to women with disabilities in Phu Xuyen district. The program will be held on 3/12 at the district’s health stations. This event will continue to be held annually and has been implemented by ACDC from 2012 to the present holiday period in the suburban districts of Hanoi (Ba Vi, Linh, and Thanh Oai) as well as in the provinces of Thai Binh and Quang Binh. Up until now this program has provided free health care counseling to over 1000 women with disabilities. Following the success of previous years, this year ACDC will host further examinations for 200 more women with disabilities under the Disability Association Phu Xuyen District. The program has received enthusiastic support and practical assistance from the People's Committee of Phu Xuyen, the District Disability Association, local health stations, and volunteer doctors and students from Hanoi Medical University.

In Nghe An, ACDC partnered with the Disability Association of Vinh City to celebrate the 24th anniversary of the first International Day of Persons with Disabilities (03/12/1992-3/12/2016). In addition to a cultural exchange program and welcome meeting, the celebration also hosted an exhibition space to introduce products made by disabled people.

In Thua Thien - Hue, ACDC collaborated with the Disabled People Association of Thua Thien Hue province to commemorate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in combination with the passage of the U.N. CRPD to plan for the Convention’s implementation by the provincial government. This cooperative event also launched the Working Party on Disability and introduced more programs and projects designed to support people with disabilities in Hue. This multipurpose program was held with the participation of 120 delegates from the provincial People's Committee and representatives from the departments of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, Finance, Interior, Foreign Affairs, Justice, Culture, Sports, and Information-Communications, as well as the Center for Provincial Legal Aid.

In Binh Phuoc, within the town of Dong Xoai, ACDC campaigned in collaboration with local disability organizations to spread conversational awareness regarding issues of disability and the U.N. CRPD. The campaign committee planned further aid services for people with disabilities that will be popular in the province. In order to improve the legal and social position of people with disabilities, local DPOs will work with ACDC to sponsor the disabled, orphans, and other impoverished populations within Binh Phuoc through a radio broadcast seminar, organized on Binh Phuoc television, to communicate the rights of persons with disabilities, state policy on people with disabilities, and project activities to support disabled people in the province.

These activities took place with the goal of responding to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities for 2016, under the theme "Complete 17 Goals for Sustainable Development! For a Future We Want!" This year was also the period in which the United Nations officially adopted its 17 Targets for Sustainable Development Agenda for 2030, including targets mentioning social accessibility for the disabled. This means that, in order to achieve sustainable development, participation and equality of persons with disabilities in social life is a prerequisite for full success.
