From 29/09 to 07/10/2015, BRIDGE - Southeast Asia program: “Building a convention on the rights of person with disabilities (CRPD) perspective on performance and programs for developing 2030 vision steadily” took place in Bangkok, Thailand.

The program is an initiative of the International Disability Alliance (IDA) and the International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC), with the support of the Australia Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland, CBM, Light for the world, Handicap International and ASEAN disability Forum.

BRIDGE is an intensive training program with the aim of supporting the development activities of the DPO, including integration issues (for all persons with disabilities) and comprehensive opinions (on human rights) of the CRPD to develop an agenda for 2015 onwards and the goals for sustainable development (SDGs) towards enhancing advocacy for integration and upholding, improving and protecting the rights of people with disabilities.

The course, with the participation of the representatives of the disabled coming from 8 countries: Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, Pakistan and India. Vietnam also had the participation of two representatives from the ACDC center.

Over 9 days of intense work, overcoming language barriers due to regional differences and types of disability, students participated enthusiastically. They exchanged ideas and shared thoughts together on how to move towards building a positive development perspective for the Convention on the Rights of persons with disabilities.
