Da Nang: Communicative event "Our Rights"

On the morning of 07/08/2022, in collaboration with the Vietnam Autism Network in Da Nang, ACDC organized a communicative event for children with disabilities entitled "Our Rights". This activity within the framework of the project" Increased accountability to eliminate violence and discrimination against children with disabilities (AVAC)" implemented by ACDC. The project is funded by Save the Children Hong Kong and coordinated by Save the Children Vietnam.

The event attracted 70 children with autism and their parents. In addition, the event was also attended by Ms. Dam Viet Ha, Deputy Director of ACDC; Mr. Truong Cong Nghiem, Chairman of Da Nang Organization of Person with Disabilities; Ms. Pham Thi Hanh, Deputy Director of Da Nang Center for Inclusive Education Development; Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Ha, Vice Principal of Future Specialized School; representatives of Da Nang City Social Work Center and Ms. Nguyen Thi Bao Advised, representative of Thanh Tam Specialized Private School.

Children with autism actively participate in game activities

Throughout the event, children with autism participated in meaningful activities to better understand the rights of children in general and the rights of children with disabilities in particular. The children played the game of guessing images about rights, discussed in groups, painted pictures to express their own expectations and dreams...

C.A.N, 16 years old, shared: "I am very happy to participate in this activity. I know more about my rights and have fun and meet my friends.”

Game activities have brought a lot of laughter and joy to children with autism

11-year-old T.X.H. has the same opinion: “Being involved in the activity is very fun. My favorite painting is about my dreams. I want to be involved in more activities like this.”

Ms. Huynh Thi My Dung, representative of Vietnam Autism Network said: “I want children with autism and parents to approach and understand the rights of children, especially the rights of children with disabilities. Today's event was very successful, the children were very happy, actively participated and had fun. I hope the project will implement more activities for autistic children, raising awareness continuously so that not only children but also families and communities understand and join hands to protect children's rights.”

After the event in Da Nang, the project will continue to implement activities to raise awareness of children with disabilities and parents about children's rights.
