On 26 September 2025, the Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC), in collaboration with the Gia Lai Department of Health, handed over a range of equipment for physical accessibility to Hoai Nhon Medical Center, helping persons with disabilities during medical examination, treatment, and rehabilitation services.

The package included five patient lifting chairs for severe mobility limitations, three sets of dining and recreation tables and chairs, and seven long benches. The provision of these items significantly improves care and rehabilitation conditions, while creating a friendlier, safer, and more accessible healthcare environment for persons with disabilities.

A representative of Hoai Nhon Medical Center shared: “On behalf of the Department of Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to ACDC for your attention, care, and valuable support through the provision of tables, chairs for patients. This practical assistance not only helps improve the conditions for patient care and rehabilitation, but also demonstrates the community responsibility from this organization toward local healthcare services. We are committed to using the donated equipment effectively and for its intended purposes, to bring tangible benefits to patients and the community.”

This handover activity is part of a broader initiative to improve accessibility for five medical facilities in Gia Lai province, including Hoai Nhon Medical Center, Binh Hiep Commune Health Station, Phu Dong My Commune Health Station, and Phu Nam My Commune Health Station. The activity is implemented under the “Improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in provinces sprayed with Agent Orange” Project in Gia Lai and Quang Ngai provinces (Inclusion IIb Project), which was developed based on a 2024 survey and proposals from local health facilities to enhance access to healthcare services for persons with disabilities.

In the coming period, ACDC will continue providing support to the remaining four medical facilities. The next phase will include installing LCD screens to assist persons with hearing and communication difficulties, strengthening information accessibility for persons with disabilities, and providing other equipment such as wheelchairs, ramps, and information signs at local health facilities. These efforts not only improve accessibility for persons with disabilities but also promote the message of a friendly, inclusive, and barrier-free healthcare environment.

The activity is funded by the U.S. Government and implemented under the management of the National Action Centre for Toxic Chemicals and Environmental Treatment (NACCET) under the Ministry of National Defence. Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC) is one of the implementing partners managed by Humanity & Inclusion (HI).
