On November 12th and 13th, 2015, ACDC Center has organized On November 12th and 13th, 2015, ACDC Center have organized the launching ceremony for the project namely “People with Disabilities Assisting” in Thua ThienHue and Binh Phuoc Province.
The project is a part of Project Evaluation – Disability Rights Promotion International sponsored by United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The launching ceremony is held in the two project areas: Thua Thien Hue and Binh Phuoc Province. Participating in the ceremony were Mr. Christopher Abrams, Director of Environment and Social Development Office (USAID Vietnam), Mr. Đinh Khac Đinh, Vice Chairman of Thua Thien Hue province’s People Committee, Mr. Nguyen Huy Phong, Vice Chairman of Binh Phuoc province’s People Committee, as well as the representatives from related departments and agencies of the two provinces.
With diverse activities, the project will enhance the ability to advocacy policies for the Rights of people with people with disabilities; improve legal aid and easily access information, facilities & transportations for people with disabilities. The project aims to create a sustainable network of disabled people’s organizations (DPO), disabled women’s groups and parents with disabled children’s associations with local authorities and stakeholders who are responsible for advocating policies related to people with disabilities. Besides that, more than 1,500 disabled people will beneficiary directly from services as well as skills & knowledge from training courses; more than 7,800 disabled people and their families will receive legal aid service in order to solve the issues related to social protection.
Mrs. Nguyen Thị Lan Anh, Director of ACDC Center stated that: “With the mission to create an obstacle-free society for people with disabilities, we have been and will endeavor to accelerate the process of integration for people with disabilities in Vietnam. This process will be supported greatly from our partners in Binh Phuoc and Thua Thien – Hue Province, as well as contribute to the common goal of Vietnam and United Nation Sustainable Development goals for people with disabilities by 2030.”
