From 2nd to 3rd July 2016, ADCD organized a training course of Reproductive Health Care for women with disabilities in Phu Xuyen, Hanoi.
This course belongs to Blooming Cactus Program, initiated by ACDC since 2012 with the sponsorship of Hanoi International Women’s Club (HIWC).
The training course comprises of 30 participants, who are the members from The Disabled Women’s organization in Phu Xuyen. It was the very first time that these disabled women were involved in a reproductive health course. Mrs. Thanh Huong Pham, President of Phu Xuyen DPO confessed: “We would like to explore more about ourselves; however, the lack of knowledge and experience foils our attempt. This program gives us a chance to acquire new knowledge and be consulted on our health.”
Together, in two days, 30 participating women in Phu Xuyen were provided a series of talks related to reproductive health such as: safe sex, male and female genital organs, sexually transmitted infections, sexual abuse and precautions… Many sensitive stories were shared openly as well as some ulterior problems were answered clearly by professional lecturers and specialized doctors.
In September 2016, ACDC is tentatively going to cooperate with the Phu Xuyen Hospital to run a free Reproductive Health Care Program for the women with disabilities in local area.
