Seminar on Implementation Plans to Deploy UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

On September 30th, 2016, a seminar covering the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) was held in the city of Hue. The event was organized by Action to the Community Development Center (ACDC) and the management board of the project, “Support to the Disabled”. This is one of the activities under the project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

 

The seminar included leaders and experts from various provincial departments such as the Department of Labor and Social Affairs, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Health, the Department of Education and Training, and the Department of Justice. Also in attendance were the leaders of Hue’s Bureau of Labor and Social Affairs.

The purpose of the seminar was to disseminate the contents of the CRPD and to discuss implementation strategies in each department. The seminar also introduced ways in which people with disabilities could obtain free legal advice in the country.

Before the end of the seminar, Hu Dan, Deputy Director of the Department of Labor -Invalids and Social Affairs, thanked participating organizations and stated his commitment to establishing a better system of departments for matters involving the assistance of people with disabilities. Hu Dan wants to continue to coordinate with agencies to more successfully organize support for people with disabilities.
