Sharing project results and learning exchange between Quang Hoa and Na Ri district

On the morning of April 28, 2022, in Cao Bang city, a workshop "Sharing project results and learning exchange between Quang Hoa and Na Ri district” took place. The program is organized by the Department of Education and Training in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training of Bac Kan province, ChildFund Vietnam and Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC).

The event attracted the participation of nearly 200 delegates, including Mr. Phan Van Giap - Vice Director of the Department of Education and Training of Cao Bang province; Ms. Dam Thi Mai Sen - Vice Director of Bac Kan Department of Education and Training; Ms. Dam Viet Ha - Vice Director of ACDC; representative of the National Center for Special Education - Vietnam Academy of Educational Sciences; representative of Childfund Vietnam; representatives of the Department of Education - Training, districts and cities of Cao Bang and Bac Kan, the Center for Continuing Education of the province; teachers and teachers of kindergartens and primary schools; Self-help groups for parents of children with disabilities of Quang Hoa and Na Ri districts and the press agencies.

In order to support children with disabilities to live in an inclusive environment and have access to quality education, the project has so far contributed to the development of 158 individual education plans with over 3,600 intervention lessons; building 4 classrooms for inclusive education, equipped with equipment to support teaching children with disabilities; established and operated 1 disabled people association in Na Ri, a self-help group in Quang Hoa; implemented 6 rounds of support for chicken and pig livelihood models for 45 households with children with disabilities to improve nutrition for children… Besides, the educational management team at schools in communes/districts and the project also applied knowledge and skills to solve problems related to inclusive education.

Mr. Phan Van Giap - Vice Director of Bac Kan Department of Education and Training shared: “The quality of education in Cao Bang and Bac Kan provinces in general has been increasingly improved, including inclusive education for students with disabilities. Along with that, all levels, sectors, parents and communities are increasingly aware of and interested in inclusive education for students with disabilities. Families of students with children with disabilities create conditions for them to go to school, be treated fairly, and gradually erase their inferiority. The team of teachers participating in classes with integrated students have a sense of learning, exchanging experiences, learning to improve their qualifications, fostering expertise in inclusive education, and taking care of students with disabilities, and know how to plan an individualized education and make a disability assessment.”

At the workshop, the delegates discussed and shared experiences in changing the perception of parents of children with disabilities and difficulties in the process of implementing inclusive education for children with disabilities, then producing support solutions to perfect the inclusive education model in the locality… In addition, the officials and teachers of Quang Hoa and Na Ri districts exchanged knowledge and practiced "inclusiveness for children" through playing the game "Ring the golden bell", dealing with situations in the process of educating children with disabilities.

This workshop is one of the closing activities of the project "Your right to study" which has been implemented in Quang Hoa district (Cao Bang) and Na Ri district (Bac Kan). The project expects that its results achieved will continue to be maintained and developed to promote inclusive education in the locality.
