Currently, children with disabilities face many factors that violate their basic rights or exclude their participation. This is also a group of people who are easily discriminated against due to physical factors, disability, poverty, etc. Therefore, raising awareness of children's rights, participation and protection for children with disabilities is extremely important. Understanding this issue, on June 29-30, the "Training on children's rights for children with disabilities" was organized by within the framework of the project "Increased accountability to eliminate violence and discrimination against children with disabilities (AVAC)”.

Trainers made an effort to come up with an appropriate content method to help children with disabilities access knowledge in the easiest and simplest way

The activity attracted the participation of 14 children with disabilities from Associations/Networks in Hanoi. They are all members who have been selected according to pre-set criteria with different types of disabilities. Under the guidance of a group of trainers from the National Council for Special Education and Hanoi National University of Education, children with disabilities had the opportunity to raise awareness about children's rights, especially the right to be protected and the right to participate. Thereby, they can apply the knowledge they have learned to protect themselves, creating a solid foundation and premise to prevent the risk of child abuse.

Children with disabilities exchanged and discussed in the group energetically and actively expressed their opinions

At the training class, children with disabilities experienced interesting activities such as painting, acting, singing, and playing games. The trainers created conditions for the children to participate fully and actively in the training class. In addition, the training course is a place to help them boldly and confidently express their voices, practice necessary skills when facing problems in society through activities such as debating and presenting in front of the crowd.

Sharing of the children after finishing the training course:

“Thank you teacher for helping me understand more about children's rights and make many new friends. Thank you to my friends for accompanying me throughout the training.” - T.H.N, 15 years old in Hoang Mai district, Hanoi.

“This is a rare opportunity for me to speak in front of all my friends. The friends here are very energetic, making the class very interesting. I also want to thank the trainers because they are very humorous and dedicated to helping us.” - H.D.M, 10 years old in Tan Son district, Phu Tho.
