On 9th -10th, February, in Thua Thien Hue Province, ACDC Institute cooperated with the project management unit of the project "Raising voices, creating opportunities for persons with disabilities in the period of 2021-2024" to organize "Training on GBV against persons with disabilities for Hospital staff/ Legal staff”. The training course took place successfully and attracted more than 39 trainees who are health workers, legal officials, members of the women union, and members of the OPDs from district to commune levels of 3 localities: Nam Dong, Phu Loc districts, and Huong Thuy town.

After 2 days of training, apart from the knowledge and skills on prevention of gendered-based violence to persons with disabilities, trainees also analyze cases of victims as well as share real stories at the locality. Furthermore, trainees could practice making plans and drawing networks to connect local departments and agencies in order to grasp their own roles and responsibilities when receiving cases of victims of violence. Especially in the training session, the lecturer mentioned and illustrated specifically the steps to manage a case of violence and the model to connect the stakeholders. This is an opportunity for trainees to learn more useful knowledge that can be applied in reality, contributing to enhancing the ability to solve problems, monitor and support victims of gendered-based violence in the community.

Some positive feedback has been recorded in the training course:

Mr. N.V.V – a health staff shared that “This training course is really helpful to me, especially, the lecturer conveyed very well and created excitement for the trainees. The knowledge from the two training sessions is very useful. I believe that after this training when encountering cases of gender-based violence in the community, the officers will handle and coordinate better.”

Ms. C.P.T – a member of the Women's Union of Huong Thuy town shared, “An impression on me in the training course is the two-way positive interaction between the lecturer and the trainees. After 2 days, trainees have been provided with a lot of useful knowledge, shared and exchanged skills during the training course. I hope that in the near future, there will be the opportunity to participate in training courses like this.

The training course is conducted under the sponsorship of the International Development Agency (USAID). In the coming time, the project will coordinate with local departments and agencies to organize activities to enhance the prevention of gender-based violence against persons with disabilities in the area.
