Da Nang: Training on teamwork skills in career development

On June 8th and 9th, 2023, ACDC in collaboration with the Da Nang Association of People with Disabilities organized "Training on teamwork skills in career development". The activity is within the framework of the project “Promoting access to comprehensive support to PWDs” funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The training course is organized based on the needs of people with disabilities in Da Nang. The main purpose is to help trainees strengthen the necessary career skills in a professional working environment and the ability to adapt to the working environment

Trainer share career skills for trainees

The training course had the participation of 11 people with disabilities in the area. The content revolves around knowledge such as the concept of teamwork, defining personal character - accepting diversity, solving a common problem of the group, making decisions for the team, and effective communication in the team.

In particular, the trainer and assistant trainer of the training course are experienced staff from the Da Nang Association of People with Disabilities. They participated in ICRC's career development program training to be held in 2022. Applying the trained experience and knowledge, they have communicated and shared in a way lively, easy to understand, and suitable for trainees. Numerous methods have been integrated such as group exercises, group discussions, role-playing, and case studies with specific examples, which have attracted the participation of trainees, to better remember the information and motivate them to apply the knowledge they have learned for their work and life.

At the end of the training session, the students shared positive feedback:

Thanks to the training course, I have more knowledge about how to communicate and assign appropriate roles in the group. I understand that in a team each person will have their strengths and weaknesses, suitable work assignments will help a team work more effectively”, Mr. P.H.T., a person with disability in Da Nang shared.

Trainees respond to content related to effective communication and solving a common problems at work

Ms. L.D.B.H., a woman with disabilities, said: “In the training course, what I like the most is the content of effective group communication. After this training, I learned how to communicate effectively and openly with those around me. I will apply this knowledge in my daily life, first in my family.”

After the course, the project expects that the shared knowledge and skills will assist people with disabilities in work and life better. In the coming time, the project expects to continue to implement other activities to improve careers skill for persons with disabilities.
