Quang Tri: Professional training on rehabilitation for local medical staffs

On June 27th  and 28th , 2023, ACDC collaborated with the Department of Health of Quang Tri province, the Provincial Hospital of Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Medical Centers of Trieu Phong, Cam Lo and Vinh Linh districts organized the Training course on “Professional rehabilitation”. The participants are the medical staffs who provide rehabilitation services for PwDs. The activity was carried out within the framework of the Inclusion I project, component project implemented by ACDC funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the management of the Project Owner is the National Action Center on Toxic Chemicals and Environmental Treatment (NACCET) - Under the Ministry of National Defense.

The training course was organized to improve knowledge and skills in goal setting and multidisciplinary intervention planning in rehabilitation, in accordance with the status and level of each PwDs. Twenty-six medical staffs are rehabilitation doctors, rehabilitation technicians/physical therapy and therapeutic activities of Trieu Phong, Cam Lo medical centers, Provincial Hospital of Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as the Medical staffs who experienced in community-based rehabilitation participated in this activity.

With the guidance of MSc - Dr.Ton That Minh Dat - Faculty of Rehabilitation, Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, various training methods were implemented. For example, group discussion, situation analysis, practice on PwDs screening examination records to discuss/share and provide appropriate intervention goals and solutions.

Ms. Minh Hien, an officer of Cam Lo District Medical Center said: “The training course was organized in a very scientific manner, the contents were simple and easy to understand. It’s only two days of training, we were strengthened and retrained the rehabilitation assessment tools, how to set goals and plan rehabilitation interventions scientifically PwDs in the community.”

The Project hopes that the knowledge of the training course will help trainees to apply proficiently to support persons with disabilities in the community with high efficiency.
