Can Tho: Training on communication skills in career development

On June 29th  and 30th, 2023, ACDC, in collaboration with the Can Tho Association of People with Disabilities, organized "Training on communication skills in career development." The activity is within the framework of the project "Opportunity and inclusion for people with disabilities" funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).

The training course had the participation of 10 people with disabilities, most of them are small business people. There are four people from Vinh Long and Dong Thap. Despite the distance but with the desire to develop communication skills, they enthusiastically applied. So, the training course is organized based on the needs of people with disabilities.

The training content revolves around knowledge such as face-to-face and online communication skills, questioning skills, and skills to build good relationships with customers... The main purpose is to help trainees understand the benefits of good communication, the do's and don'ts of communication, problem-solving skills, and building good relationships with customers.

With the knowledge from the ICRC's career development program training to be held in 2022, and their own experiences and knowledge, the trainer and assistant trainer from the Can Tho Association of People with Disabilities brought useful training for trainees. During the two days of training, the trainees always actively expressed their opinions, shared the problems encountered in communication, and applied this knowledge to solve them.

At the end of the training session, the trainees shared positive feedback:

"Through the training course, I know how to overcome communication difficulties, and I should always open my heart, be happy with everyone, listen, and think. These are very useful, and I can apply these skills in my life and work. "Ms. N.K.T, a person with disability in Can Tho, shared.

After the course, the project expects that the shared knowledge and skills will assist people with disabilities in work and life better. In the coming time, the project expects to continue implementing other activities to improve career skills for persons with disabilities.
