Following a series of activities to support and promote associations, groups, and clubs of persons with disabilities in Quang Tri, on December 1st, 2023, the regular meeting of the Women with Disabilities Club of Vinh Linh district was held. The activity took place with the purpose of celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and summarizing the club's 2023 activities. The activity is carried out within the framework of the "Inclusion 1" project - Component implemented by ACDC in the period 2023-2024.

The activity had the presence of more than 35 women with disabilities who are members of the club, representatives of the Women's Union of Vinh Linh district, CCIHP project officer, and ACDC office manager in Quang Tri.

A large number of women with disabilities attended the activity

In addition to listening to and sharing the historical significance and theme of this year's International Day of Persons with Disabilities “United in action to rescue and achieve the SDGs for, with and by persons with disabilities”, members participating in the event also listened to folk songs and folk dances praising the land and heroic people of Vinh Linh district as well as reading reports summarizing the Club's activities for more than 1 year. Ms. Ha Thi Tuyet - Head of the Club emphasized in the report: “Although the club has only been established for more than 1 year, with active support from the ACDC project and the District Women's Union, we have had many positive changes such as: diverse monthly activities with various contents such as gender-based violence prevention, independent living for persons with disabilities, confidence in decision making, raising healthy/obedient children... and learning to make flowers for extra incomes. We shared through thick and thin together, learned from each other, and had the opportunity to connect with women inside and outside the district. Thanks to that, the women of our club have become more confident in promoting their abilities in family and social work. Moreover, the changes also influenced and encouraged other women with disabilities; therefore, it increased the number of participants in our club...”

Club member confidently shared about the activity

Ms. Nguyen Thi T., a member of the club, shared: "Thanks to joining the club, it has helped us become more confident, boldly to sing/dance and go out . I could see the members of the club becoming more and more beautiful and happier. Unlike before, wherever I go, I am shy and nervous for fear of hearing negative comments from other people. I would like to send my thanks to the project for supporting connections so that our club can meet, interact, share and become a useful playground for women with disabilities."

The club members were very happy to receive gifts from the organizers

To continuously enhance the exchange and development of Women with Disabilities Clubs, ACDC will continue to support the following monthly activities and create opportunities for Clubs/Associations of Persons with Disabilities to interact and connect in the upcoming period.
