Student invents smart gloves for the blinds

With the development of science, engineering and technology, many modern products have been created to response for the needs of human. But, specialized products for the people with disabilities (PWDs) are limited. Especially, the blinds have to face many challenges in mobility directly affecting to their works and their lives. “Smart gloves for the blinds” of Le Duy Ngo Phong (from Hue City) is partial support for the blinds.

 

 

Understanding the difficulties of the young blind neighborhood couple that they find it hard to do their daily activities, most of the time they have to ask for help from relatives. The program "Connecting the rhythm of love" from Thua Thien Hue Radio and Television (TRT) published this touching story and attracted many attentions. This is a huge motivation for Phong to do his research.

Other products with small and neat design might be dropped and hard to find, but for the smart gloves, it is fixed on hands in to order to help the blinds to move easily and do their daily activities flexibly. Not only having a navigation function but also supporting for the blinds to use computer and talk like a mobile phone. The price of this smart gloves is around 800.000 VND to 1.000.000 VND. 

  

Phong shared: “I hope that in the future, there will be a bussiness company supporting me to create a more flexible and softer product with lowest price, and every blind person affords to buy and use it. It must be great if the blinds could do everything without any helps”.

 

With this product, Le Ngo Duy Phong (Class 12A1, Phu Bai High School, Huong Thuy town) was certificated many high awards such as The first prize in Software system field, The first prize in Creativity in Science and Technology Competition – Provincial level; The first prize in Young informatics - Provincial level; The prize in Creativity for young people – Thua Thien Hue Province; Incentive award for National Young Informatics.
