On September 6 - 7, 2025, Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC), in collaboration with Quang Tri Association of Persons with Disabilities, Victims of Agent Orange, Protection of Persons with Disabilities, and Protection of Child Rights, and Da Nang Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital, organized the official handover of completed prosthetic limbs and orthopedic devices to persons with disabilities.
A total of 57 persons with disabilities from 13 communes across Quang Tri province received the devices, including residents from Gio Linh, Cua Viet, Ben Hai, Con Tien, Cua Tung, Vinh Linh, Vinh Hoang, Vinh Thuy, Trieu Phong, Ai Tu, Trieu Binh, Nam Cua Viet, and Trieu Co communes.
This activity was carried out under the framework of the project “Independent living and social inclusion for persons with disabilities in Quang Tri, Vietnam,” funded by Green Cross Switzerland (GCCH) through ACDC. The project aims to improve quality of life, enhance mobility, and empower persons with disabilities to live independently and integrate into their communities.
Earlier, in August 2025, preliminary trials of the prosthetic samples were conducted to gather feedback and make adjustments based on each individual’s needs and physical condition. Following these adjustments, the final prosthetic limbs and orthopedic devices were completed to ensure proper fit, safety, comfort, and suitability for daily use.

Ms. L.T.N, a person with disability in Nam Cua Viet commune shared:“My old prosthetic leg broke, making walking extremely difficult. Since trying the sample model, I had been eagerly waiting for a new one. Today, receiving this prosthetic leg from the project makes me truly happy. I hope more persons with disabilities like me will be supported in the future.”

Ms. D.T.L.A, mother of a child with disability in Vinh Linh commune expressed:“Seeing my child able to walk on their own gives our family immense joy. We are deeply grateful to the project and Green Cross Switzerland for bringing us this happiness.”
Mr. N.T.S, a person with disability in Con Tien commune said:“With this new prosthetic leg, I can walk much more easily, without the pain and discomfort I used to experience. I am very thankful to the project.”
Mr. C.V.D, a beneficiary in Cua Tung commune shared:“Since losing my arm, I felt ashamed and avoided attending weddings or gatherings. Today, being fitted with a comfortable and well-fitting prosthetic arm, I am overjoyed. From now on, I will be much more confident. I feel like my life is being renewed, and I am deeply grateful to the project and the doctors and technicians for bringing this happiness to me and others with disabilities in this community.”
Ms. N.T.N, support officer in Vinh Linh commune:“As a local support officer, I witnessed how carefully and professionally this handover was conducted—starting from measurement, testing, and adjustments, through to the final handover. The doctors and technicians worked with dedication and precision, ensuring that each person received a product that fits and meets their needs. Everyone was truly delighted.”
This activity not only helps persons with disabilities improve their mobility, but also supports them in pursuing education, engaging in employment, generating income, and integrating into the community with greater confidence and sustainability.
