Activity
From 12 - 15 June 2026, the Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC), in coordination with the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health, Hoai Nhon Medical Center, Phu My Medical Center, and local commune health stations, implemented the activity “Direct Support for Persons with Disabilities and Their Families to Improve Living Conditions and Social Inclusion” in five communes and wards: Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon Bac, Tam Quan, Phu My Nam, and Phu My.
As part of the activity, 50 persons with disabilities received more than 100 support items tailored to their individual needs and living conditions, with a total disbursement of over VND 272 million. The support package included a wide range of items such as electric wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs, hand-powered tricycles, electric tricycles, beds, wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, solar-powered lights and fans, and many other essential devices.

The support items were selected based on the specific needs of each person with a disability and their family, with the aim of improving daily living conditions, reducing risks in everyday life, and creating better opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate in education, employment, and community activities, thereby promoting social inclusion.
Sharing her thoughts after receiving support, Ms. N.T.Đ from Phu My Commune said: “My old sewing machine had been used for many years. It frequently broke down and could not handle thick fabrics. Thanks to the new sewing machine, my work has become much easier. I can take on more orders and earn a higher income. I am deeply grateful to the Project for bringing new hope to persons with disabilities like me.”
The father of H.G.T. from Hoai Nhon Ward expressed his appreciation: “On behalf of my child, our family would like to sincerely thank the Project and local authorities for their thoughtful support. Thanks to this electric three-wheeled vehicle, my child can continue attending school more conveniently. We are truly grateful for this meaningful assistance. Our family will continue to guide and support my child in learning to use the vehicle safely and effectively, so that this valuable support will achieve its full impact.”

The positive impact of the activity was also recognized by local officials. Ms. D.T.T.L., a local health worker, commented: “The support provided by the Project is highly practical and well matched to the needs of each person with a disability as well as their household circumstances. Many beneficiaries and their families were delighted to receive items that make daily life safer and more convenient. We hope this model will continue and be expanded in the future.”
The activity represents a practical effort to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities, promote independent living, and strengthen social inclusion within communities. Through timely and appropriate support, persons with disabilities are better equipped to overcome barriers in daily life, build confidence, and participate more actively in social activities.
The activity was implemented under the Project “Improving the Quality of Life of Persons with Disabilities in Provinces Heavily Sprayed with Agent Orange” in Gia Lai and Quang Ngai provinces (Inclusion IIb Project). The Project is funded by the United States Government, with the National Action Centre for Toxic Chemicals and Environmental Treatment (NACCET) under the Ministry of National Defence serving as the project owner. ACDC is one of the implementing partners working under the management of Humanity & Inclusion (HI).
