Participating Organizations: McGill University and University of Lisbon, with partners including the Disability Rights Promotion International (DRPI), York Centre for Asian Research (YCAR), Culture Lab, and other research programs.
Purpose of the Project: The project aims to disseminate in-depth knowledge about the right to education for girls with disabilities, enhance the capacity of women and girls with disabilities in monitoring disability rights, promote gender equality, and positively transform the awareness of both the community and people with disabilities regarding disability issues.
Activities: During the working days, the research team collaborated to implement a support program for women and girls with disabilities in Tu Liem District, Hanoi. Ten women with disabilities were trained to become core personnel in designing disability rights-based monitoring models. Additionally, support staff selected 23 girls with disabilities in Tu Liem District to be equipped with basic skills in photovoice and drawing. These are fundamental tools to empower women and girls with disabilities to become key actors in changing societal perceptions of disability issues and ensuring the educational rights of girls with disabilities.
