At the event, the delegates heard about the history, purpose, and significance of Vietnam Disability Day. At the same time, the organizers also introduced the activities of the Organization of Persons with Disabilities of Quang Nam Province, emphasizing the improved and enhanced position of the organization. The organization of persons with disabilities at the grassroots level is a reliable place where persons can participate and express their voices through sharing, empathy, and solidarity.

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province shared his appreciation for the recent activities of the Organization of Persons with Disabilities in the province

At the event, the Vice Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee, Tran Anh Tuan, expressed his deep concern for the activities of the Organization and the work of persons with disabilities: "He emphasized that after a period of formation and development, the Organization of persons with disabilities of the province has received the support of Party organizations, authorities from the province to the grassroots level, departments, businesses, and social organizations, which has helped persons with disabilities integrate and rise in life. In the coming time, the Disabled Persons' Organization needs to continue to promote its role and position and voice in the community and society. Currently, there are still over 70,000 persons with disabilities in the province, so it is necessary to establish "compassionate addresses" to connect and support special difficult cases promptly. The Organization of persons with disabilities needs to play a core role in accompanying and taking care of its members. Departments and localities need to continue to pay attention, accompany, and advise the Provincial Persons' Committee and the Provincial Party Committee on practical policies, directions and plans to create conditions for members to continue to rise and integrate into the community and society..."

A particularly critical content in the program that attracted the attention of the delegates was the contest with the theme of "Integration for all," which focused on legal policies for persons with disabilities and disability integration. The results of the contest were: Team 3 (representing persons with disabilities from Dien Ban, Nong Son, Hoi An, and Que Son districts) won first prize; Team 1 (representing persons with disabilities from Dai Loc, Tien Phuoc, Phu Ninh, and Hiep Duc districts) won second prize; and Team 2 (representing persons with disabilities from Duy Xuyen, Thang Binh, Tam Ky, and Nui Thanh districts) won third prize.

Also at this event, the presentation of the "For the happiness of persons with disabilities" commemorative medal by the VFD was held. This was an activity to honour exemplary individuals who have contributed to the building and development of the organization and the happiness of persons with disabilities in the province. It was also an opportunity for the Party and State to acknowledge the contributions of those who work on disability issues. 27 commemorative medals were awarded to 27 individuals who were delegates from departments, boards, branches, and persons with disabilities who had made positive contributions to the movement of persons with disabilities.

10 person with disabilities with difficult circumstances were given 10 wheelchairs

In addition, on this day, the Organization also presented 10 wheelchairs to 10 disabled persons with difficult circumstances who needed to use wheelchairs in the province.

The series of activities not only had a communicative nature but also integrated meaningful and practical content, providing diverse values. At the same time, it also promoted the comprehensive participation of organizations, communities, and social organizations in supporting persons with disabilities.

In Quang Nam, this is truly a festival for persons with disabilities since they have the opportunity to participate and express their rights and voice, and they are also honoured and recognized for their contributions "to the happiness of persons with disabilities" throughout the years. Therefore, this activity has created a spread of awareness in the community to make persons with disabilities more confident in their ability to integrate and access opportunities.

This activity is part of the "Raising Voices, creating opportunities – II ” project in Quang Nam province, sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the ACDC.
