“Sống độc lập là người khuyết tật sống một mình và họ tự làm tất cả mọi việc cho bản thân họ”.  – Đây là những chia sẻ và tranh luận sôi nổi đầu của các thành viên đến tham dự lớp tập huấn “Tiếp cận và Sống độc lập cho người khuyết tật nặng và đặc biệt nặng” ngày 12/06/2020 do ACDC và Hội người khuyết tật, nạn nhân da cam, bảo trợ người khuyết tật và bảo vệ quyền trẻ em đồng tổ chức .

Chương trình đã thu hút 26 người khuyết tật nặng, đặc biệt nặng của các dạng khuyết tật về vận động do di chứng của tai biến mạch máu não, tai nạn bom mìn, bại liệt, liệt 02 chân … đến tham gia. Lớp tập huấn do ThS. Bs. Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Lan, Cán bộ điều phối ACDC tại Quảng Trị và Cử nhân Nguyễn Văn Hiền, Khoa Phục hồi chức năng, Bệnh viện đa khoa tỉnh Quảng Trị hướng dẫn. Khóa học đã lần lượt cung cấp về các khái niệm và nguyên tắc của Sống độc lập cũng như thực hành, trải nghiệm tại mô hình ngôi nhà tiếp cận trong văn phòng dự án của ACDC.

Cuối khóa học các học viên đã vui vẻ nhận ra rằng: “Sống độc lập không phải sống một mình hoặc tự làm mà người khuyết tật phải có suy nghĩ độc lập để tự quyết định và hướng dẫn hoặc yêu cầu sự hỗ trợ của người khác đối với mình”. Ngoài ra họ còn chia sẻ các kiến thức và kỹ năng hữu ích giúp tự bản thân vươn lên và cải tạo môi trường xung quanh để sống độc lập tốt hơn, bắt đầu từ những sự thay đổi nhỏ trong chính ngôi nhà của mình.

Chị H. hơn 47 tuổi, bị bại liệt từ nhỏ đến từ huyện Triệu Phong chia sẻ rằng: “Lần này về tôi sẽ làm tay vịn trong nhà vệ sinh và nhà tắm để đứng lên ngồi xuống cho thuận tiện. Việc làm này không chỉ giúp cho tôi đứng lên một cách dễ dàng, mà tôi nghĩ ngay cả những người mới ốm xong hoặc người cao tuổi cũng rất cần.”

Đây là đợt tập huấn thứ tư thuộc khuôn khổ dự án “Tăng cường cơ hội và nâng cao vị thế cho người khuyết tật” do Cơ quan Phát triển Quốc tế Hoa Kỳ (USAID) tài trợ nhằm nâng cao năng lực cho người khuyết tật hướng tới cải thiện chất lượng sống cho chính họ.

From July 24 – 26, 2026, ACDC, in coordination with the Quang Ngai Department of Health, implemented a direct support activity for persons with disabilities and their families to improve living conditions and promote community inclusion in five communes: Dak To, Ngok Tu, Sa Loong, Duc Nong, and Bo Y. Through this activity, 53 persons with disabilities and their families received assistive devices and equipment tailored to their needs and actual living conditions, contributing to greater independence in their daily activities.

On the afternoon of July 23, 2026, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Federation on Disability (VFD) convened an Extraordinary Meeting in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation. During the meeting, the Executive Committee elected Ms. Do Thi Hue as Vice President of VFD for the 2023 – 2028 term, with 91% of voting delegates in favor. The appointment marks an important step in strengthening the Federation’s leadership and enhancing its capacity to fulfill its mission in the years ahead.

Gia Lai and Quang Ngai: Continuing the disbursement of over 200 million vnd in livelihood support for persons with disabilities

As part of a series of livelihood support activities for persons with disabilities, from 7–13 July 2026, the Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC), in collaboration with the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Health and the Quang Ngai Provincial Department of Health, with technical support from livelihood specialists and local agricultural extension officers, conducted mid-term assessments and the second round of livelihood grant disbursements for 62 households of persons with disabilities across the two provinces. During this phase, the project provided more than 200 million VND, bringing the total investment in livelihood models for persons with disabilities to over 800 million VND.
