A skit "Please hear"

V.Q.A, a child with hearing and speech disabilities, from Da Nang Inclusive Education Development Support Center shared: “I used to participate in the Child Rights Training for CWD in September. I noticed a noticeable and progressive shift after taking the course, which made me happy since in the past I had difficulty communicating and was separated from friends and family owing to language barriers. Since I took part in the programme, I've had the chance to learn a lot of new and practical information, expand my vocabulary with the support of sign language interpreters, and get to know people with disabilities. Being able to work in groups and take part in some gaming activities while having various limitations makes me incredibly pleased. As a result, I will share information with my family to help my parents better understand, be more aware of children's rights and respect the expression of their opinions through writing or texting. For me, group activities are the most important. I also love the information about four rights groups under the International Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Right to Survival, the Right to Protection, the Right to Development, and the Right to participate."

Ms Do Thi Do Quyen, Director of Danang Center for Inclusive Education Development Support announced the group competition's results

Ms Do Thi Do Quyen, Director of the Danang Center for Inclusive Education Development Support, spoke at the competition and said: "If the circumstances allow, we will increase the contest's size and include more schools. In addition to the three schools present, others will also take part. In addition, I hope that Save the Children and ACDC will keep helping the children so they can host more competitions on their own."

The judges give prizes to the groups after the lively and energetic competition

A.B, a student at Nguyen Thuong Hien High School, feels happy to be supporting a group of students with disabilities: "I believe that today's competition is very meaningful to us. This is my first experience working with a group of students with disabilities. Despite their impairments, they are hardworking, have good thinking, and have a lot of ideas, therefore we work well. I am eager to continue participating in group activities. When I participated in the event, I heard the judges explain very thoroughly and enthusiastically. In addition, I also learnt a lot of information and gained a better understanding of our rights".

Parents of young children with disabilities cheered and encouraged students with disabilities to participate in the contest

Mr M.S, a parent of children with disabilities excitedly shared: "This training is relevant and beneficial to parents, particularly parents of disabled children. I hope that more programmes like this exist so that parents can learn more about the rights of children with disabilities, as well as how to respect, support, and aid their children, including allowing them to make their own decisions."

The activity is within the framework of the project "Increased accountability to eliminate violence and discrimination against children with disabilities” (AVAC) implemented by ACDC, sponsored by Save the Children Hong Kong and the coordination of Save the Children Vietnam.
