On 25 – 26/2, the course “Training on Cyber safety for disabled offsprings” was conducted in Da Nang. The training course was organized by ACDC, in collaboration with Da Nang Center for Inclusive Education Development Support, under the project “Physical, mental violation and behavior discrimination prevention to special needs children”. The project was funded by Save the Chilren Hong Kong Organization, under the management of the organization Save the Children Vietnam.
The course had attracted the participation of 15 children with different functional difficulties such as vision, motion and hearing – and – speech impairment. All participated kids are informed about contents of Cyber space security, advocated by Mrs. Dang Thanh Tung – Vice Director of ACDC Center, along with other teachers in the event.
With resourceful knowledge and experience in children – related aspects, combined with variety of interesting training methods, MA. Nguyen Hai Anh has provided disabilities children with beneficial knowledge of Cyber security. Many activities were carried out such as role – playing, group discussion, presentation, debate session,… have taught children to recognize risks in cyber environment, especially risks in gender – based violence and sexual harassment. From those knowledge, children can understand how to prevent and behave when falling into victims of mentioned risks.
In some aspects about recommendations to related sides for the safety of children’s Internet usage, the group of disabled children shared their thoughts: “We want to have more secured websites, so that we can get access easier to education and recreational activities; as well as having necessary means to prevent harmful – content websites”.
Male student V.T.N, with visual impair, 17 years old, share his thought: “In 2 days ago, we children were very happy when the teachers spend the time to inform us on valuable and educational knowledge, so to us knowing how to use the Internent in a safe and reasonable way. Besides, we were not only studied but also shared some beautiful memories and unforgettable moments. I am thankful of teachers as well as Center lecturers, who have come here to assist and lecture our students valuable knowledge”.
Mrs. Dang Thanh Tung, Vice Director of the Center, shared her thoughts: “Informations in the training course were very effective and necessary to special needs children. With us teachers, we also acquire new knowledges to support and protect children better in case of Internet consumption.”
Ending of the training course, most of children felt happy and satisfied with obtained knowledge. In the future, the project will also be conducted a disapora of meaningful activities to help children, parents, caretakers and community to improve the awareness of children’s rights, specially with differently abled children.
