Ha Noi: Raise the capacity for parents and caregivers of children with disabilities on children's rights and child protection

The trainers aided the trainees in understanding the course material, which included fundamental ideas about children as defined by the Law on Children of 2016 and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child of 1989, as well as principles for upholding children's rights. In addition, the trainer instructs parents and other caregivers in a variety of skills to protect children and prevent child abuse, prevent violence against children, report suspected violations of children's rights.

Participating in the training, Ms T.T.N - a parent of deaf children shared: “I hope that participating parents will raise awareness about children's rights. What I enjoy most about the course is the interaction between the trainer and the trainee. For me, the four groups of children's rights are equally important and cannot be without one.”

Mr P.V.T, a member of the Vietnam Association of Parents of Deaf and Deaf Children shared: “I haven't learnt much about children's rights up to this point, but this is an opportunity for me to do so. Although there is a lot to study, the instructors have set up the proper environment for individuals to comprehend the basics of children's rights groups as well as the rights of children with disabilities. After participating in the training, I'll share what I've learnt with the community after the training so that everyone may benefit.”

At the end of the training course, the majority of the participants affirmed that the class was useful and looked forward to the next training sessions. In the future, the project will continue to carry out various activities to assist children, parents, carers, and communities to raise awareness of children's rights, especially children with disabilities.
