On November 6, 2022, ACDC held a training course on how to operate a children's rights communication session for parents and caregivers of CWD. The activity is part of the project “Increased accountability to eliminate violence and discrimination against children with disabilities” (AVAC )implemented by ACDC under the sponsorship of Save the Children Hong Kong and the coordination of Save the Children in Vietnam.

The training course's goal is to give parents and caregivers the knowledge and abilities necessary to lead a communication session about children's rights. Parents will use their newly acquired communication skills and understanding of children's rights to prepare the children's rights communication session after the training.
A group discussion
The training course involved parents and caregivers of children with disabilities from organizations/groups, networks of young parents, and integration/specialized centres for caring for children with disabilities in the Hanoi project area. The trainees had already received training on children's rights and child protection. The course material will enable students to more effectively share what they have learned with other parents in their organisation, group, or network.
Participants share presentations on communication practices to assist beneficiaries access full knowledge of Children Rights
Master Tran Minh Hai, Founder and Director of Tuong Lai Center is the one who guides the students throughout the course. With deep knowledge and 20 years of teaching experience, the trainer guided the trainees in understanding fundamental to advanced knowledge on the way of conducting the media session. The topics covered during the course include communication concepts, components and barriers in the communication process; skills to support communication and media planning for their groups. Numerous techniques and activities have been used in class to aid students in understanding the material, and they can be used in upcoming communication sessions.
Participants share information on communication activities related to the Children Rights
Mr D.Q.H, a parent of children with disabilities, said: "I felt much more confident after this course. I possess the expertise and abilities to educate other parents. What impressed me most was the method used by the lecturer in this class. I sincerely appreciate it.”
Ms P.V.A, a teacher at a special school shared: “This is a beneficial course that aids us greatly in the process of teaching. In addition to gaining fresh information on communication, we also learn a great deal about teaching from lecturers, how to convey information, and how to use tools to achieve the highest efficiency."
As a result, the participants underwent two courses of training on the project's knowledge and skills to convey information on Children's Rights and Child Protection. The parent groups have planned and will carry out the re-organization of the communication for the parents in their group.
