Towards the 24th anniversary of the Vietnam Day of Persons with Disabilities on April 18, the Action to the Community development center (ACDC) has coordinated with partners to deploy many activities with this year’sthetheme "Integrating and Adapting, Determining future”. Let's review ACDC's activities these days.

In March - April 2022, nearly 1600 personswith disabilities in Thua Thien Hue, Quang Tri and Quang Nam provinces were examined and consulted on health problems. Simultaneously, based on the examination results, the project will screen cases for inclusion in home care programs and commune health stations. At the examination sessions, personswith disabilities are given specific medical examinations, exercise, testing, and self-care needs assessment (eating, sleeping, hygiene, ability to perform daily activities, etc.). In addition, the examination team also assessed the care ability of family members of persons with disabilitiesto have a more specific picture of the situation of each person, thereby giving detailedand realistic assessments and advice. This is an activity under the project "Inclusion and independent living" for the period of 2022 - 2023 sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

On April 8, 2022, in Hai Lam commune, Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province, a communication event with the theme "Access to public works of personswith disabilities'' attracted the participation of 47 persons with disabilities, as well as their families and officials from Hai Lam commune departments. The programme aims to increase awareness of disability-related policies among persons with disabilities and the general public, including access to further encourage access to persons with disabilities inclusion in the community. In particular, the event was attended by Mr. Le Van Dang - Vice Chairman of the Association of People with Disabilities - Agent Orange Victims and Children Sponsors in Quang Tri province, Ms. Le Thi Anh Thu - Representative of HI organization in Quang Tri, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thap - President Organizationof Personswith Disabilities - Agent Orange Victims of Hai Lang District and Mr. Hoang Hoa Tham - Vice Chairman of Hai Lam Commune, Hai Lang District. The activity is part of the project "Promoting independent living of persons with disabilities' jointly implemented by ACDC and HI.

On April 14, 2022, Vinh Khe commune, Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province took place the event “Communication of laws and policies related to personswith disabilities” for nearly 50 delegates who are persons with disabilities, their families and members of the Council to determine the degree of disability in Vinh Khe commune. Attending the event were Mr. Thai Vinh Lieu - Chairman of the Organizationof Personswith Disabilities, Agent Orange Victims, Sponsoring People with Disabilities and Protecting Children's Rights in Quang Tri province; Mr. Phan Quynh Chau from the Organizationof People with Disabilities, Agent Orange Victims, Sponsoring People with Disabilities and Protecting Children's Rights of Vinh Linh District; Mr. Tran Thanh Tam - Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs of Vinh Linh district and representative of the government in Vinh Khe and Vinh Ha commune. The program aims to raise awareness of personswith disabilities and the community about policies and laws to support personswith disabilities, thereby answering questions of personswith disabilities about the regime and policies related to disabled people. The activity is part of the project Inclusion and independent living" for the period of 2022 - 2023 sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

On the morning of April 14, 2022, the Organizationof People with Disabilities - Sponsoring People with Disabilities and Orphans in Thua Thien Hue Province coordinated with ACDC to celebrate Vietnam Day of Personswith Disabilities (April 18) at Tu Tuong Park in Hue city. The event attracted 150 delegates who are people with disabilities from districts and towns across the province. The ceremony was held with numerousmeaningful activities such as a study tour, flower offering and visit to the Ho Chi Minh Museum; the flower arrangement contest and the propaganda contest about laws, policies, and skills for inclusion and adaptation - shaping the future for disabled persons. In the contest, unique flower baskets were brought with the criteria of beauty, confidence to rise up and overcoming difficulties as well as questions and answers about laws and policies with practical value associated with the life of people with disabilities. In the end, the first prize in the competition belonged to the Phong Dien team and the second place belonged to the Phu Loc and Huong Tra teams. This is a meaningful activity to help the community understand better about people with disabilities, proving to be a useful playground to promote inclusion, and raise the voice and position of people with disabilities in the community.

On the morning of April 15, 2022, more than 150 delegates attended the Vietnam Day of People with Disabilities 18/04 with the theme "Integration and Adaptation - Shaping the Future '' on the online platform zoom and live in Hanoi. The event was organized by the Vietnam Federation of People with Disabilities (VFD) in collaboration with the Center for Support for Community Service Initiatives (CSIP) and the Action to the Community development center (ACDC) under the sponsorship of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the direction of the National Action Center for Remediation of Toxic Chemicals and the Environment (NACCET) - Project owner "Support to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities in provinces heavily sprayed with Agent Orange''. Especially in response to Vietnam Day of People with Disabilities, the awarding ceremony of the initiative contest "Integrating and adapting to the Covid-19 pandemic" was held at the event. After more than 4 months of launching, the contest has received 15 proposals from organizations across the country: 4 Consolation Prizes, 2 Third Prizes, 1 Second Prize, 1 First Prize, and 1 Community Voted Prize were awarded to worthy initiatives. In particular, the initiative that won the first prize will be funded for practical implementation.

A series of major storms and floods – No. 10, 11, 12, and 13 – in late 2025 devastated large areas of northern, central, and Central Highlands provinces, leaving tens of thousands of households submerged, losing property, and facing disrupted livelihoods. Persons with disabilities, who are among the most heavily affected groups due to limited mobility and reduced capacity to respond to emergencies, were identified as those in urgent need of assistance.
