As part of the project “Support to Improve the Quality of Life of Persons with Disabilities in Provinces Heavily Sprayed with Agent Orange” in Binh Dinh and Kon Tum provinces, the component implemented by ACDC, from June 16 to 18, 2025, the Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC), in coordination with the Department of Health of Binh Dinh Province, carried out the activity “Direct Support for Persons with Disabilities and Their Families to Improve Living Conditions and Promote Social Inclusion” in Tay Giang and Tay Thuan communes, Tay Son District.

Technicians from the Binh Dinh Provincial Hospital of Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation visited and conducted assessments to evaluate the living conditions of persons with disabilities at their homes

The activity involved the participation of technical staff specializing in community-based rehabilitation  from the Binh Dinh Provincial Hospital of Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Through this activity, the needs of nearly 35 persons with disabilities and their families in Tay Giang and Tay Thuan communes, Tay Son District, were identified regarding the provision of daily living facilities. The needs assessment was based on individuals’ abilities to perform daily activities, their living environment, family relationships, and economic conditions. From this, the proposed support items aim to enhance the capacity of persons with disabilities to participate more fully and meaningfully in the community.

Persons with disabilities received rehabilitation support under the guidance of highly skilled rehabilitation technicians

Ms. N.T.L from Tay Thuan Commune expressed her joy and gratitude:"I’m deeply thankful to the project team and the commune health officers for their care — visiting, guiding me through home-based exercises, and identifying appropriate assistive devices to help me carry out daily activities more easily at home."

Mr. T.V.Q from Tay Thuan Commune also shared his thoughts:"Thank you to the team for coming to assess my home environment and provide recommendations for support. Through the assessment, I became more aware of the limitations in my living space — such as the high doorsteps that make it difficult to move around the house. My family will discuss and take the initiative to lower the steps to make mobility easier and reduce the risk of falls."

The joy shared by both staff members and persons with disabilities was evident as they received support, guidance, and assessments - all contributing to improved quality of life and greater social inclusion

The activity not only provided practical support but also contributed to raising awareness among families and the community about the importance of creating a safe and accessible living environment for persons with disabilities.
