On the afternoon of July 23, 2026, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Federation on Disability (VFD) convened an Extraordinary Meeting in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online participation. During the meeting, the Executive Committee elected Ms. Do Thi Hue as Vice President of VFD for the 2023 – 2028 term, with 91% of voting delegates in favor. The appointment marks an important step in strengthening the Federation’s leadership and enhancing its capacity to fulfill its mission in the years ahead.
The meeting was attended by 74% of the Executive Committee members, together with invited guests, participating both in person and online. Participants reviewed VFD’s achievements during the first six months of 2026, identified key priorities for the remaining six months of the year, and considered organizational and personnel matters of the third-term Executive Committee (2023 – 2028).

In her opening remarks, People's Teacher. Prof. Dr. Dang Huynh Mai, Chairwoman of VFD and Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, noted that the meeting took place following VFD’s official admission as a member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. She emphasized that this new role and position require the Federation to continue strengthening its organizational structure and institutional capacity to meet the demands of the next phase of development, while effectively implementing the VFD Development Strategy for 2025–2030, with a vision to 2035.
Presenting the six-month review report, Mr. Dang Van Thanh, Standing Vice President of VFD, highlighted the positive achievements made by the Federation and its member organizations during the first half of 2026. Significant progress was recorded in organizational development, policy advocacy, communications, digital transformation, support for persons with disabilities, resource mobilization, and the expansion of the Federation’s network. The Executive Committee also agreed on key priorities for the remainder of 2026, including further strengthening the role of member organizations, improving the quality of operations, and ensuring timely reporting to support coordination, policy recommendations, and collaboration with relevant agencies.

During the personnel session, the Executive Committee discussed the need to appoint an additional Vice President. The Standing Committee explained that the nomination of Ms. Do Thi Hue, former Full-time Vice President of the Central Vietnam Relief Association for Handicapped Children was made in response to the growing need to strengthen resource mobilization as VFD implements new priorities under its Development Strategy. With many years of experience in fundraising and disability inclusion, Ms. Hue is expected to help expand partnerships, mobilize additional resources, and further enhance the Federation’s effectiveness.
Addressing the meeting, Ms. Do Thi Hue shared her professional background and extensive experience in resource mobilization and expressed her commitment to continuing to contribute to the Federation’s development should she receive the confidence of the Executive Committee. Following discussion and voting, the Executive Committee officially elected her as Vice President of the Vietnam Federation on Disability for the 2023 – 2028 term.

In her closing remarks, Chairwoman Dang Huynh Mai congratulated Ms. Do Thi Hue and the newly appointed Executive Committee members. She emphasized that strengthening the leadership team with experienced and dedicated individuals is essential to enhancing the Federation’s capacity, improving its effectiveness, and successfully implementing its Development Strategy and mission of promoting the rights, opportunities, and inclusion of persons with disabilities in Vietnam.
