On October 11, 2025, the ACDC Institute and Thang Binh Regional Medical Center doctors and technicians distributed and explained the use of assistive devices to 10 persons with disabilities across Thang An, Thang Dien, and Thang Phu communes in Da Nang City.

These assistive devices were prescribed by doctors during in-home rehabilitation intervention sessions, ensuring suitability with each person’s health condition, needs, daily living habits, and living environment. The assistive devices were diverse in type, including wheelchairs, handcycles, prosthetic legs, commode chairs, underarm crutches, walking frames, elastic balls, resistance bands, and more.

A medical technician visits the homes of persons with disabilities to provide walkers and instruct them on proper use - helping improve convenience in daily activities and supporting their functional rehabilitation

Alongside the home-based rehabilitation interventions, the provision of assistive devices helps improve daily living functions, mobility, and movement, while also supporting persons with disabilities to continue rehabilitation exercises at home.

Mrs. N.T.T, wife of Mr. T.D.H, a person with a disability from Thang An commune, shared: “When he heard that the team would come to distribute assistive devices, he had been waiting since morning. Today, the project team visited our house to provide us with a wheelchair and a commode chair and guided us on how to use them safely. Our family is truly grateful for the project’s care and support.”

Under the guidance of healthcare staff, persons with disabilities perform rehabilitation exercises at home to improve mobility and enhance their overall health

Ms. P.T.C, a person with a disability from Thang Dien commune, looked at the walking frame with joy and said: “I’m so happy! Before, I had to hold onto the walls to move around. A few days ago, I slipped and fell, and my leg is still swollen. Now, with this new walking frame from the project, I’m very glad. I will try to practice and use it as the technician instructed so I can walk more safely.”

Health worker Nguyen Thi Kim Mai from the Thang Binh Regional Medical Center shared her happiness: “Seeing persons with disabilities smiling, joyful, and satisfied when receiving assistive devices from the project makes me feel warm inside. Witnessing their gradual health improvement and increased mobility gives me even more motivation to continue accompanying them and the project in the future.”

This activity is part of the project “Support to Improve the Quality of Life of Persons with Disabilities in Provinces Heavily Sprayed with Agent Orange” in the three provinces of Quang Tri, Quang Nam (now Da Nang City), and Hue City (formerly Thua Thien Hue Province) during the 2024–2025 period. ACDC Institute is one of the implementing partners under the management of CCIHP, with the National Action Center for Toxic Chemicals and Environmental Treatment (NACCET) as the project owner.
