The event was attended by representatives of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri Province, provincial departments and agencies, mass organizations, donors, representatives of commune- and ward-level associations, and 65 outstanding Agent Orange victims representing nearly 16,000 victims across the province.

At the ceremony, participants reflected on the 65-year journey since August 10, 1961, and the ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering caused by Agent Orange in Quang Tri. Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, representing ACDC and its partners, presents a symbolic funding commitment of more than VND 1.6 billion to support persons with disabilities and Agent Orange victims in Quang Tri Province

At the event, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh, representing ACDC and its partners, presented a symbolic funding commitment of more than 1.6 billion VND to Quang Tri OPD to jointly implement the project “Strengthening Support for Rehabilitation Equipment and Meal Costs for Persons with Disabilities and Agent Orange Victims in Quang Tri Province”.

The entire funding package is provided by the Green Cross Switzerland Office in Vietnam through ACDC. The support will help improve access to rehabilitation equipment and provide meal cost assistance for persons with disabilities and Agent Orange victims at facilities across the province. This, in turn, will contribute to improving their health and care conditions and enabling greater participation in education, rehabilitation and community activities.

Quang Tri remains one of the localities severely affected by the consequences of war and Agent Orange. According to information shared at the event, more than 30,000 people in the province have been exposed to Agent Orange, while more than 6,000 people have died as a result of Agent Orange exposure. Nearly 16,000 victims are still living in the province, including nearly 3,500 persons with disabilities affected by the consequences of Agent Orange who require regular care, support and assistance.

Sixty-five years after the Agent Orange Disaster, the effects of Agent Orange/dioxin exposure continue to affect the lives of many families. Continued resource mobilization and close coordination with local organizations and partners remain practical ways to support Agent Orange victims in improving their quality of life, accessing essential services and gaining greater opportunities for social inclusion.

Through its activities in Hue and Quang Tri, ACDC continues to work closely with local organizations and partners to provide practical support, contribute to alleviating the suffering caused by Agent Orange, improve quality of life and promote a more equal and inclusive society.
