World Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day (October 6th) aims to raise global awareness about cerebral palsy. This day provides an opportunity for the world to come together in recognition and solidarity with the 50 million persons living with cerebral palsy worldwide.

Launched in 2012 by the Cerebral Palsy Alliance (Australia), World CP Day has since grown into a global movement, supported by 144 partner organizations across 45 countries. In 2023, the official channels of World CP Day reached 9 million people, garnered 800,000 engagements on social media, and hosted thousands of events in over 100 countries.

First introduced in Vietnam in 2020, World Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day on October 6 now takes place annually throughout October under the slogan “In GoGreen, We are One” – symbolizing unity in a green world. On this day, people change their avatars, post on Facebook, wear green clothes and accessories, and decorate homes, schools, and offices in green to raise awareness of cerebral palsy. Many artists and public figures participate; hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and schools also wear green ribbons to show support. In Vietnam, October is also designated as the Month of Action for Children and Persons with Cerebral Palsy (CP).

In 2025, the theme of World CP Day is #UniqueAndUnited – celebrating the uniqueness of each person living with cerebral palsy. Every individual is a distinct being. And despite differences, we share a common journey: raising awareness, breaking stigmas, and building a society that welcomes children and persons with CP.
