On October 25, 2025, the Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC), in collaboration with the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and local authorities, provided 30 assistive devices to 22 persons with disabilities in Nam Cua Viet, Trieu Binh, Trieu Co, Cam Lo, and Hieu Giang communes (Quang Tri province).

The activity aimed to support persons with disabilities in gaining access to appropriate assistive devices that enhance their convenience, safety, and independence in daily life. The delivered devices included wheelchairs, walkers, orthopedic sandals, tripod canes, shower chairs, toilet handrails, and several other assistive tools.

All devices were selected based on functional assessments, individual needs evaluations, and recommendations conducted by the MDT during home-based rehabilitation interventions. This process helps improve mobility, ensures the effectiveness of device use, and contributes to strengthening functional recovery and independent living for persons with disabilities.

In addition to the handover, MDT members also guided persons with disabilities and their caregivers on proper use and rehabilitation exercises, while developing follow-up and evaluation plans to ensure safe and sustainable use of the equipment.

During the event, the family of Phan Gia Anh (from Trieu Co commune) shared their heartfelt gratitude: “Whenever I saw children with cerebral palsy using special chairs on TV, I always wished my son could have one, but our family couldn’t afford it. Thanks to this project, Gia Anh now has his own chair, can sit firmly, and go outside to play. We are truly grateful to the program for bringing joy and hope to our son.”

Mr. Nguyen Duc Hau, father of Nguyen Hoang Duc Minh (from Cam Lo commune), also expressed his happiness: “Thank you to the project and the rehabilitation officers for their dedicated guidance and for providing the assistive devices that have helped Minh improve. My son and I have been practicing regularly as instructed, and I’ve noticed he can now hold his head higher. With the walker and special wheelchair provided by the project, I hope Minh will continue to progress and become more capable in eating and learning activities.”

This activity not only provides practical support that enables persons with disabilities to become more active in daily life but also demonstrates the joint efforts of organizations and authorities in promoting equal rights and improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities in Quang Tri province.

This activity is part of the project “Improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities in provinces sprayed with Agent Orange”, which is being implemented in three provinces: Quang Tri, Hue City, and Da Nang City. The project is funded by the United States Government and led by the National Action Center for Toxic Chemicals and Environmental Treatment (NACCET) under the Ministry of National Defense. ACDC is one of the implementing partners under the management of the Center for Creative Initiatives in Health and Population (CCIHP).
