Ngày 21/3 hằng năm được chọn là Ngày Hội chứng Down thế giới, nhằm nâng cao nhận thức cộng đồng và tạo ra tiếng nói toàn cầu để vận động cho quyền lợi, sự hòa nhập và bình đẳng cho những người mắc hội chứng Down. Việt Nam mỗi năm có khoảng 1.400-1.800 trẻ mắc hội chứng Down.

Năm nay, chủ đề của Ngày Hội chứng Down thế giới là “Chấm dứt những định kiến”. Đây cũng là chiến dịch nâng cao nhận thức do cộng đồng người mắc hội chứng Down kêu gọi trên toàn cầu nhân kỉ niệm Ngày Hội chứng Down thế giới 2024.

Những định kiến của xã hội về năng lực của người mắc hội chứng Down có thể dẫn đến cách ứng xử không phù hợp, điều này có thể vô tình khiến những định kiến trở thành hiện thực. Tại sao chúng ta không đảo ngược lại những định kiến này? Nếu chúng ta có những suy nghĩ tích cực về năng lực của những người mắc hội chứng Down, họ sẽ được tiếp cận các cơ hội học tập, việc làm, các mối quan hệ xã hội và nâng cao chất lượng sống. Và biết đâu, những điều tưởng chừng như không thể sẽ trở thành hiện thực!

Mỗi người đều là một cá thể riêng biệt và duy nhất. Mỗi người mắc hội chứng Down đều khác nhau. Không phải tất cả họ đều hành động giống nhau hoặc thích những điều giống nhau. Mỗi người đều có bản sắc, sở thích, điều thích và không thích, năng khiếu và tài năng riêng không ai giống hệt ai.

Hue city: Completion of home-based rehabilitation intervention cases for persons with disabilities and agent orange victims

On August 15 – 16 and 22 – 23, 2026, the Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC), in collaboration with the Organization of Persons with Disabilities – Protection of Persons with Disabilities and Orphans of Hue City , Hue City Rehabilitation Hospital, local authorities, and commune/ward health stations, organized the closing of home-based rehabilitation (RH) intervention cases for 78 persons with disabilities and Agent Orange victims. The activity is part of the project “Enhancing livelihood and well-being of persons with disabilities and Agent Orange victims in Hue City, Vietnam,” funded by Green Cross Switzerland (GCCH) through ACDC.

86 persons with disabilities and agent orange victims receive prosthetic limbs and orthotic devices in Hue city

On 13 – 14 August 2026, Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC), in coordination with the Hue City Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans and relevant agencies, completed the provision of prosthetic limbs and orthotic devices to 86 persons with disabilities and Agent Orange victims in 11 communes and wards across Hue City. This activity followed the prosthetic and orthotic fitting and trial process conducted in July 2026. The activity was implemented under the project “Livelihood Support and Quality of Life Improvement for Persons with Disabilities and Agent Orange Victims in Hue City,” funded by Green Cross Switzerland (GCCH) through ACDC.
