From March 21, 2022 to April 3, 2022, at commune health stations belonging to 03 project districts of Trieu Phong, Cam Lo and Vinh Linh in Quang Tri province, ACDC organized general health check-ups for personswith disabilities. This is an activity under the project "Strengthening inclusion and independent living for persons with disabilities" for the period of 2022 - 2023 sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

This activity was carried out under the supervision of ACDC, Quang Tri Department of Health and the participation of medical staff from Trieu Phong, Cam Lo and Vinh Linh District Health Centers. According to the plan, the project will conduct health checks for 540 persons with disabilities in 30 communes to help persons with disabilities understand their own health-related problems as well as diagnose health complications early, thereby providing timely treatment plans. At the same time, based on the medical examination results, the project will screen 330 persons with disabilities and put them into home care programs and commune health stations.

At the medical examination sessions, persons with disabilities are given specific medical examinations, exercise, testing and self-care needs assessment (eating, sleeping, hygiene, ability to perform daily activities, etc.) ...). In addition, the medical examination team also assessed the care ability of family members of persons with disabilities to have a more specific picture of the situation of each disabled person, thereby giving specific assessments and advice that stick to reality.

Medical health check for disabled persons

In particular, in order to create favourable conditions for persons with disabilities to come to the health check session, the project has arranged a shuttle bus for people with extremely severe disabilities and their carers. At the same time, for personswith disabilities who could not reach the medical examination site, the medical examination team went to their homes directly for medical examination and consultation.

This activity of ACDC received high appreciation and attention from local departments and agencies, bringing practical benefits to persons with disabilities in the project area. It is expected that in the near future, the project will deploy other activities to promote the ability to live independently and integrate persons with disabilities in the community.
