Overview of the Conference with the participation of more than 35 delegates from provincial agencies

At the conference, the outstanding results of the Survey on Gender-Based Violence were presented and highly appreciated by local officials. This survey was conducted on 150 women and girls with disabilities in Hue city and two districts of Phong Dien and Phu Vang in mid-March of 2022. This is the basis for assessing and giving practical solutions to support victims as well as contribute to preventing gender-based violence against women and girls with disabilities in the community.

The representative of the provincial agency proposed solutions to strengthen prevention and response to gender-based violence against women and girls with disabilities

Following the program, the participants had a lively discussion on solutions to strengthen the prevention and response to gender-based violence against women and girls with disabilities. Some typical solutions are proposed such as improving propaganda in some localities as well as strengthening support for those experiencing gender-based violence; Building communication classes with persons with disabilities for legal aid officers. In particular, one of the crucial solutions is to establish a network to strengthen the connection and information sharing of relevant agencies in order to cooperate in intervening, supporting, and handling the cases of persons with disabilities experiencing gender-based violence in the locality.

This is an activity within the framework of the project "Raising voices, creating opportunities for persons with disabilities in the period 2021 - 2024" funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). It is expected that similar conferences will be held in the project sites of Quang Nam and Quang Tri and hopefully, there will be more useful solutions to prevent gender-based violence against women and children with disabilities.
