Quang Tri: Training on independent living for government officials

On November 24, 2022, 31 staff working in disability-related fields such as Justice, Policy, Women's Union, Youth Union, Front, Health, Quarter Chief, and community health workers in Ward 5, Dong Ha city was trained on independent living for persons with disabilities.

The trainer guides lectures on skills of independent living and social assitance of persons with disabilities for departments’ officials 

Under the enthusiastic guidance of 03 trainers who are persons with disabilities, the trainees discussed and exchanged knowledge and skills for independent, inclusive living, and accessible to persons with disabilities The trainees also visited the model of Accessible House at ACDC Project Office in Quang Tri and some pictures of renovating. Through a variety of teaching methods and experiential activities, students have gained knowledge about independent living, and access to people with disabilities, thereby taking action to support people with disabilities in a more practical and effective way.

Sharing of some trainees:

  • "As a representative on the committee, I will discuss the matters of independent living and social assítance of individuals with disabilities with my colleagues. The aisles of the ward's cultural institutions and halls will be recommended for renovation during the discussions in order to facilitate the community integration of persons with disabilities.”
  • “I'm thrilled to be a part of such an important and informative training session. I now have a greater knowledge of the obstacles that people with disabilities encounter, and I know that every one of us must work together to eliminate those barriers if we want to see persons with disabilities integrate into the community.”

The training course is part of the project "Promoting independent living of persons with disabilities" jointly implemented and operated by the Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC) and The organisation of Persons with Disabilities, Victims of Agent Orange, Advocating for Persons with Disabilities and Protecting Children's Rights and Quang Tri Provincial Children's Hospital. The activiy is expected to improve and enhance the life quality for persons with disabilities in Quang Tri province.

Study visit and knowledge exchange on care and rehabilitation for persons with disabilities at Ulsan University Hospital, Korea

On the morning of 29 October, representatives from the Vietnam Federation on Disability (VFD), the Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC), and partner organizations visited Ulsan University Hospital in the Republic of Korea to exchange experiences and learn about care and rehabilitation practices for persons with disabilities. The delegation was led by Mr. Dang Van Thanh, Standing Vice President of VFD.
