Every year on December 3, the world celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPwD) – a moment to honor the roles and contributions of persons with disabilities, and to reaffirm the global commitment to ensuring their full and equal participation in all aspects of social life.

World Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day (October 6th) aims to raise global awareness about cerebral palsy. This day provides an opportunity for the world to come together in recognition and solidarity with the 50 million persons living with cerebral palsy worldwide.

May 6th is a special occasion to raise awareness about Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) and spread understanding and empathy for those living with this rare disease. It is also an opportunity to honor the resilience, creativity and affirm the values ​​that the OI community brings to society.

The theme is chosen by the Vietnam Federation on Disability for this year's National Day of Persons with Disabilities on April 18, 2025, is: "Digital technology and accessibility for persons with disabilities".

On the morning of April 18, 2023, a meeting was held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Vietnam Disability Day on April 18, with the theme of "Digital transformation: Innovation and technology for all," and the first presentation of the "For the happiness of persons with disabilities" commemorative medal by the Vietnam Federation on Disability (VFD) was organized. The event was organized by the ACDC in collaboration with the Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs and the Organization of Persons with Disabilities of Quang Nam Province.

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Vietnam Day for Persons with disabilities (18/4/1998 - 18/4/2023), on April 12, 2023, the Vietnam Federation on Disability (VFD) organized a ceremony to commemorate the Vietnam Day for Persons with disabilities 18/4 with the theme of Digital Transformation: Innovation and Technology for Everyone. In addition to the commemorative ceremony, the Federation also held a second-term executive committee meeting in 2023 to discuss important content for the third-term Congress (2023-2028). The event is sponsored by ACDC.

Down Syndrome

On the morning of December 2, 2022, the Action to the Community Development Institute (ACDC) cooperated with the Club of Women with Disabilities in Vinh Linh District to organize a meeting to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3. 2022. The event was organized in the form of a contest "Democratic flower picking contest".

Wishbone Day is celebrated on May 6th each year. This is an International Awareness Day on  Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) colloquially known as imperfect bone formation disease or brittle bone disease. Wishbone Day is a day to highlight the voices of people with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, their contributions to family and society as well as recognize the challenges of living with the disease.

Towards the 24th anniversary of the Vietnam Day of Persons with Disabilities on April 18, the Action to the Community development center (ACDC) has coordinated with partners to deploy many activities with this year’sthetheme "Integrating and Adapting, Determining future”. World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), 21 March, is a global awareness day that the United Nations has officially observed since 2012. The date for WDSD, being the 21st day of the third month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down syndrome.

pril 18 every year is an opportunity for governments of all levels, social organizations, organizations of persons with disabilities, and sponsors to organize many activities aiming at encouraging the participation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of social life with the hope of improving the quality of life and ensuring the inclusion and equality for persons with disabilities in Vietnam.
